Im new here. I have one 10 gal with one goldfish. I plan on upgrading the setup with a better filter and then adding more goldfish. kind of want an Arowana maybe sometime in the future, i also like oscars.

Is 3reef useful for me if i only keep goldfish?

Welcome to 3reef, yes we have several fresh water people here.

You will want a 75 gallon tank minimum for an Oscar to be happy and 240 for the arowana. I would say a 55 minimum for the Oscar and 125 minimum for the arowana depending on species.

i've been lurking all day and i realize there is a wealth of knowledge here, thanks for being so friendly. Thanks for the tips also, i realize oscars and arowanas aren't anything i can do right now as i am a poor college student.

Speaking of being poor, any recommendations for a quality built power filter that i can use with (but without cutting or modifying) this temporary screen cover?


it's probably no big deal if i have to cut small holes in the screen part, but there's a cat in my house so i have to be careful.
