Here's my "Hi" thread!

I've kept FW for about 10 years (started when I was 12) and got bored of that. I haven't had a tank in awhile, but got the bug again and decided to go SW.

Here's my build thread:
My Tank - Reef to be 50G Bowfront

It's been a fun time starting the tank, including the first, used, 10G sump I built that cracked. (thankfully I was home when it happened!)

I spent about 1 week cleaning and water testing my used tank, 2 weeks building and testing the plumbing, 2 weeks building, testing and tuning my sump (accounting for backflush and maximizing flow), and 1 week aging my water before getting the LR and 3 damsels.

Basically, I'm going for a mostly DIY build (it's more fun) and love tweaking and tuning.

I plan on having all of my rock within 4 weeks, inverts & a couple more of (larger) fish within 6 weeks, then letting it all stew for a month while I tune the water.

I'm hoping to start growing corals about mid-October since we are planning a 2 week vacation before then, and just seeing where it goes from there.

The woman is already asking for seahorse & jelly tanks, so those may also be in the not-so-far distant future if all goes well with this first build.
