Hi! I am a goldfish FANATIC!

I have one 10 gallon tank for my comet goldfish, Dimitri. :)

I just got Dimitri, and he is a little bit over one inch. He is almost completely orange with some black markings on his back and fins.

Goldfish are my favorite type of fish, despite the many species out there.

I am very new to the world of aquariums, so I do not know that much about caring for fish.

This is my first post, so I may have made a mistake, I am very sorry if I did!

Welcome to 3reef. Yes you are correct. Mistake number 1. Comets grow quite large and will quickly outgrow a 10 gallon tank. On the bright side you have come to the right place for friendly, honest advice, about your tank and fish friends. If you are intent on keeping Goldfish you will need to purchase at least a 30 gallon aquarium. All goldfish reach a length of at least 8 inches and that Comet you have will grow to a foot in length. They are also messy fish that need frequent tank maintenance.Makes you wonder who's idea the goldfish bowl was. Probably the guy selling bigger tanks.lol;D Goldfish are really best kept in ponds, but with the proper size tank they make great additions to the family. Good luck!!
