Sorry man, most of us learned the hard way too, including yours truly. I restarted after not being in the hobby for a few years, and thats what you did, now you really shouldn't! Bad for the fishies! But, yeah its too late for the shrimp, unless YOU TAKE THE CLOWNS BACK TO THE LFS, wink wink. Just tell them its mean to cycle a tank with fish, and guilt them into taking them. Then cycle using a shrimp, and go get them back.

Or at least go get a cycling treatment like microbacter7, instant ocean makes one, or Dr. Tims. And TEST your water daily for levels and have WC ready.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is, unless you have a really honest, knowledgable LFS, which you don't, ask questions here first. it'll save ya a ton of money and time;) And don't feel bad, this won't be the last mistake you'll make, this hobby is a constant learning process. Ask away, HERE not THERE;)

LOL agreed I cycled with three fish and didnt know any better, the fish store here SUCKS!!!! and lie all the time so I have found three reef to be the most helpful sight yet.

the test kit, API is what you would need and is cheeper than most and is fairly accurate.

as far as the dead shrimp go right now I wouldnt worry about it unless the fish store willing to hold the fish for you. I would get some dry rock and bacteria supplement and prime and do your best to ride it out. these links might help

ok good, just get those water changes ready!

And monitor your levels everyday. An Api test kit should do, don't get the test strips. You need nitrate/nitrite/ammonia.
Get the microbacter 7 cycle product too
and consider getting a refractometer to test your salinity;)

Just tell them its a bad idea to cycle a tank with fish, its mean, and you're mad they told you to do it. They should have no problem taking them back.

So since we're on the subject of my terrible fish store I have been told I should wait is months and then one month for an anemone which is right or is it just waiting for my tank to cycle. Sorry I know it says not to ask questions In introductions but I have everyone's attention so I figured might as well and when is it safe to add corals?
