New to this forum and wanted to say hello. Currently working on a 40 gal setup...so far its pretty bare bones consisting of tank, stand, lights, water, filter, and 25 lbs of base rock. Looking forward to being a part of your community!

Thanks for the warm welcome and I certainly will ask questions.
The tank is what the ad said was a 30 tall but after looking at the dimensions I think it is a 37 or 40 gal. I may have rushed things a bit by filling the tank with water and salt circulating the water with only a hob filter, after 2 weeks running I can see organic matter in the form of "small bubbly brown foam" accumulating at the water line on the glass. I am planning on expanding and putting in a sump with a skimmer but until then I'll just through in some rock. 25 lbs dry rock from Marco Rocks are now in. I've been reading alot here about ROwater and wonder if I should but a unit for my makeup water from now on, or if I should flush the water I have and start over. I plan on getting enough live sand for a 2 1/2 to 3 " sandbed and another 25 or so lbs of LR in the next couple weeks. I tested the water today and it seems like its starting to cycle. I bought a 4 bulb t5 setup 2 12k and 2 act. w/2 blue led moonlight but im not sure if this will be enough.

You have some beautiful tanks and I am very jealous:p

    pics soon.

What are the dimensions of the tank?

I would strongly suggest you purchase a RO/DI system. Others could chime in, but to avoid issues moving forward, you may want to drain the tank and re-fill with salt water made from RO/DI.
