I think you should return the anemone. If you keep it good luck. Carpets expell old tank water for new(your water). This make take a few days. Shrivelling and opening. They need all the energy they have to make this process happen. Refrain from feeding it takes energy. I suggest you do some serious studying on the carpet. Not for beginners. And should it die while you are away, you are looking at a fairly devistating mess.

We are getting the new lights tomorrow. That's if we can find the right ones for a decent price.

I think you have the 2 bulb fixture, if it is!?! you have a total of 96w, not enough for anemones or most corals, you got to have at least 180w or better, but for a 30g you should be fine with 160 or so on T-5 try placing the coral, anemones, etc,etc as closest to the surface is possible before you loose all of them

We purchased the anemones online. Do all LFS take items like that? Never had to do that before. Should we get rid of both or just the carpet? Is there any anemone we can get?

Everything is at the top of the tank except for the carpet. It doesn't want to come out from under the rock. It seemed like it was going to try and eat 1 of the domino damsels earlier, but it got away.

Exactly how deep should the sand be in the bottom of the tank. I think we need more. If so, is it safe to add with everything we have in the tank?
