I purchased the tank and equipment in Mid May and let it run for about a month without much in it, maybe about 10-15 pounds of live rock. Then in Mid June I added the clowns. through July an August I added more live rock. August and Sept. Came the tangs and shrimp

My tank is Fish only and live rock

Keep an eye on nitrates (for your filtration question). Your current filtration could be just fine considering a FOWLR. Fish can tolerate much higher levels of nitrate than corals. However, tangs tend to get "hole in the head" disease from bad water and mal-nutrition. There are easy solutions to helping with nitrate in FOWLR. What are your nitrate levels?

Nitrate levels are good a bit less than 20 ppm. Nitrites are pretty much 0

I think I give them a variety of food; Nori, two kinds of frozen food, flakes, purple seaweed

The yellow tang looks great its my hippo that i'm worried about. He is always stressed

Is it visibly stressed or does it just act stressed? Hippo's are known for being psychotic. I have had 2, and one of them was just flat out nuts. Its not uncommon to hide all the freaking time and completely freak out over just about anything. How long have you had it? How is it's appetite?

The hippo gets freaked out about anything, he hides in this rock, which I'm not sure how he fits in there. But when he is feeding he lives up to his name - he eats everything, very fast

I have had him since Early August 08

Now i think he has HLLE - which he has developed rapidly

    I'll post a pic

OK. The behavior of the Hippo is probably normal. A lot of them are just nut jobs, like I said, lol. As for the HLLE (or hole-in-head), wouldnt know without the pic. The two things that usually stand out for that is poor water quality and stray voltage. Do you have a grounding probe? As far as the water quality, you said the nitrites can vary? What about your other params (ammonia, temp, SG, PH, CA, MG, ALK, PO4)?

    See attachment

I'm pretty religious about water changes, every two weeks I do 10%

Stray voltage could be it, I do not have a grounding probe
