    thanks for the welcome.
i'm planning a FOWLR 80 gallon setup. i think that's simple enough without being too boring. i have a general idea of the fish i want, but since i'm new to this i keep seeing fish that i never even knew existed. i know i want a peaceful community setup though, but i really like the marine betta and niger triggerfish, but they probably wouldn't be suitable.
i guess i'll see how things progress.

this is just my 2 cents, but might i suggest you keep your stocking choices open ended. if you buy a non-reef compatible fish, you close the door on any corals you might eventually want to keep. i started with a fish only tank until i found the frag shelf at my LFS and i was hooked. it's wise to take it one step at a time when you start out, but always be mindful of whats to come :) we're glad you're here

You can try looking on www.saltwaterfish.com
It has a big list of different fish, inverts, Clean up crew, ect.
Also has info about each critter, how big they get, how much room they need, what temperament they have and if they are reef safe.

that's why i'm hesitant about those fish. i think i'l go with a couple smaller, very colorful, peaceful fish. i don't know about the coral though. The lighting needed is very expensive here (Trinidad), because of the added costs of shipping. most equipment is actually. On the other hand i can collect my own live rock and save a lot of money there.

Thanks for the link, very helpful. The major problem I'll have with stocking is that i just don't know the fish that are available, since i'm new. this will be very helpful.
