just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm a long time fish hobbyist (10+years) now. majority of my keeping was freshwater but made the jump to salt 2 years ago. unfortunately I learned a lot of things the hardway even though I researched time and time again.

I am now retiring my 90 gallon corner bowfront for a brand new 220Gallon 8 foot long glass tank that is being custom built with a full coast to coast internal overflow (didnt have any room in the back for an external). The tank should be delivered this week and I will post and take as many pics as possible as that has been the biggest help for me when researching design ideas.

I have a FOLW setup and will maintain this in the new tank as I dont feel comfortable with a reef setup just yet. I'm sure i'll transition slowly over the next couple of years.

I will be running 2 4ft VHO T5 lighting banks with 4 bulbs each (mix of actinic and 10K).

My only regret is not having enough space (or money) to do a closed loop system so I will use multiple koralia powerheads for circulation. the internal coast to coast will provide excellent surface skiiming (according to what I have read). my drains will run internally (under the C2C and out the bottom) as I do not have room to do the external style drains. I have 2 1.5" drains (1 at each end) and will run one full siphon (to reduce sound) using a gate valve and let the other handle the rest and act as backup. the 1.5" drain should handle 1200/1300 gallons in full siphone if one drain clogs so I thing I am ok there. I am only running about 1300gph from the sump (which is downstairs 12 feet below) due to the head height and pump capabilities and my proteing skimmer only handles 1300gph anyway so the rest of the flow is powerheads for now.

I'll post my new setup once the tank arrives.

    wish me luck
