Hi everyone. My name is Vince and I have had saltwater and freshwater aquariums since I was 12. I am now 41 and still loving it. My greatest claim to fame at my local FS is the Golden striped Maroon Clown which I kept for 21 years. His name was Homey. My current tanks are a 90 gal. reef and a 24 gal nano reef. I am preparing to dive into fragging so keep all that great advice coming.8)

    Hi and Welcome,

Keeping a Maroon clown that long is really something to boast about. I bet Homey was HUGE.

Look forward to any pictures you may have of the system.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. My clown was in several different sized tanks over the years so his growth was stunted a little bit. He was about 5 inches when he passed. As he grew older his stripes began to dissappear. By the time he died all he had left was a small spot on his head and one on the base of his tail.
My DSLR was recently stolen so I will get some pics up of my tanks as soon as I replace it. Brian from Blue water tropicals is a good friend of mine and I actually met Matt at the recent MACNA show in Orlando. Real nice guy who I see puts a ton of work in here. Thanks for havin me and I look forward to sharing some fish stories with you guys.;D

Welcome ! You're going to like it here, bud!

I also had 2 maroon clowns that got returned because they were very mean. Killed a couple of my fish and that was it for them... maybe my tank wasn't big enough for them. I have a 55 gallon tank w/ sump and fuge... around 60 or 65 gallons total water volume... this changes every time I want to re-calculate it :S

The only thing Homey would beat up was me. I dreaded having to move anything around in his tank because he would attack me. He wasn't afraid of my hand at all.

Fish are usually mean when you stick them too close together. ;)
As long as you have an adequate tank size they normally only protect there space. If they were exceptionally mean and weren't attacking each other I would suspect they were paired up=very mean in confined tank.:-/
