So I have a 29g fowlr tank and right now I have one yt damsel in there. I know that the damsels are very aggressive but I wanted to start out cheap... So, I have a lot of hiding places in there and I wanted to add two clownfish. I will be quarantining the clowns first. But the question that I am asking is that, how would you recommend introducing the clowns to the current tank with the damsel in it? Should I remove the damsel first? (I know that will be very hard to do.) Or what would you say to do? Thanks.

Maybe rearrange the rock work a little and introduce the clowns with the lights off for the day.

I agree rearranging rocks and turning off the lights for a day, this way everybody is starting out on the same fin. Goodluck

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you can catch the yellow tail perhaps put him in the QT and allow the clowns a couple days to acclimate before re-introducing the damsel.

When I kept two clowns with a yellow tail damsel the damsel was the one that had to be removed secondary to the clowns attempts to kill it. They lived in harmony for a year until the clowns matured.

IMO a 29 gallon does not offer enough territory for multiple damsels as they mature.

    Good Luck.

OK. well Would you say to return the yt then? I plan on getting clowns in 2 weeks and then quarantining them for at least 2 weeks. Also, I have a black background on my tank and I am wondering how a black ocellaris would look? Or would he be pretty much invisible. With my yt damsel if he is up against the back he is invisible. Except for his tail. But once he is in the middle of the tank or up against a rock or sand he is easily visible.

I'd def take the YT devil back! I despise them! And corrailline is right, chances of 3 damsels acting peaceful in that tank is minimal IMO.

He'll wash away in the background but just get a false black with some orange around his eyes and some white spots, should look cool;)
