It seems like overnight and all of a sudden there are so many of them. I have been using Joes Juice on the large ones but there are so many little ones in cracks all over the place. Is there a better way to stop and reverse this outbreak? I have a 55 gal tank. Do peppermint shrimp really work???

    Thanks

I have heard pep. shrimp work wonders. Try them......
I know there is also a tye of nudi. that eats them but I think they are pricey and unreliable

yes i think the peppermints do work. i noticed an aptasia right near where my peppermints hang out. and didnt feel like dealing with it . i left it go, a few days later ready to deal with it, joes juice in hand. but no aptasia to use the joes juice on. im guessing the shrimp ate it

Peps can be hit or miss.

I know it doesn't help you any at this stage, but when you see the first aiptasia you have to get rid of it. Once they get large and you try to kill them they'll just spread worse, as you're finding.

I had a filefish that ate all mine in one tank years ago. If you have other corals, though, it could eat those too.

2 peppermints cleaned my tank of a 100+ of these things inside of 1-2 weeks. I would never mess with chemicals to do a job that a critter can do for me better.

Though as sushi girl pointed out... they can be hit/miss... sometimes the LFS will sell something like but not exactly a peppermint. Not sure if there's a def way to tell... Either way it worked for me once... I'd try it again if i ever had a problem.

I think the peppermints will work. I have 3 horsies in my 30 gal, and have some aptasia. I have 2 peps, and the aptasia doesn't spread too fast, the few that are still there are the on only ones.. I think the trick is to keep the shrimp hungry, but that can be tricky sometimes because they are a lot quicker than seahorses when it comes to nabbing food::).

I think it would be worth a try and wouldn't hurt.
