Help broken thermometer inside my tank ?

    :-[Hey guys! I have a problem i dont know wether it is big or not i need more informatin on this. My glass thermometer broke inside my tank but just the balls fell out not the mercury i suppose. I also did not notice it boken in my tank till a couple days after. So when i did i amediatly took a magnet and skooped them all out. But now im just afraid this could of affected my water quality. Does anyone know what could happen i dont want my tank to crash. What do i do???:confused:

    I'd not worry about it and the shots now used for ballast are mostly steel rather then lead , as for the murcury not many ise that either anylonger . I'd not worry to much about it..

    oh i fogot to mention they started to even rust a little could that mean any harm aswell??

    I would do whatever it took to get that metal out I can not imagine that rusty steel in a tank could in any way be good for it .::)

    yea i know i went crazy i used the magnet from my power head to take them out. I think i took it all out. i guess ill have to go over it again when i can.:-/

    I'd add some carbon and even a metal sponge will pull any heavy metals
    out of the water.. The ballast is just steel shot EPA approved for hunting water foul geese ducks and the like over Fresh and saltwater. I drop a cut nail into my refugium every so often to feed the plants and its slowly dissolves and does the iron sublimation .
