Pump is making gurgling noises while chugging in air. We have tried to siphon according to directions (which are very unclear) and tried a few other tricks we found online to no avail, including sucking on the hard tube. Any ideas?

I have the same skimmer and I think I know what your talking about. And I didn't have to siphone mine at all. I do get gurgulling noises from the blue air tube to the clear one. I have found if I push the blue tube down as far as it can go it seems to stop. I just mainly do a lot of playing around with the air valve and tube to try to make it as quiet as possible.

    Hope this helps some

ah well mine is not pulling any new water in, although it will make foam from the water I poured in it myself.

i've had mine set up for a few weeks now, when i first set it up, i do remember having to pour water in, but just that one time. My only complaint about this skimmer so far, is it creates a massive amount of bubbles in the DT from the outtake tube, right now i have the tube facing toward the back of the tank to at least help with the bubbles, but it's been pulling gunk out since the first 24hrs it's been hooked up and seems to be going great so far.

I have a BH100F and had issues starting it up. I ended up putting my finger over one of the holes on the silencer and then plugging it in and that worked for me.

Ok managed to get it primed. was just being an idiot, didn't have one of the tubes plugged in far enough and was leaking air.

Now that its running and this being my first skimmer, after the "break in period" will if get any quiter? I still hear air trying to go trough but seems to be working correctly the air trying to come through is the loudest part. Also my tank looks like a hot tub with all the bubbles in it and I can't hardly anything in it.

I can't for the life of me, manage to get this skimmer to work correctly. I feel like I've tried everything but I'm probably doing something so simple that's messing it up.

Every time I turn it on it just overflows really quickly. The collection cup fills up super fast and starts bubbling out of the holes on the lid. Can anybody help me control this thing???

Here is a picture of the skimmer, http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7348/phototj.jpg

If the picture is how you arre running it, the collection cup is way too low. the cup is adjustable. just pull it up and move the plastic ring down to the point you want the cup to stop at. the black plastic screw on the front will also help secure the cup. I would also take the blue sponge out of it also. and third move the surface skimmer up in your tank to limit the amount of water you have going into the skimmer.
