    I'm trying to get my octopus bh100-f to work and I can't figure out how to get it started! Any help would be great, I can't seem to prime the pump!

    you have fill it up with water, then use the white thing on the plastic pipe to suck out all the air. it creates a siphon action when you turn the pump on

    By white thing do you mean the white/clear air hose that you connect the silencer to? or the blue hose that's connected to the intake valve?

    im assuming the problem your having is getting the skimmer to suck water from the tank and not turning the pump on.

    you sucking the air out of white nipple on the black pipe.

    Yep. Gotta suck the air out of that tube, then close the valve as you are sucking. Prepare to get a few mouth fulls of water. Took me a while to get the hang of it.

    check valve, tubing and syringe comes to mind?! Getting mouth fulls of tank water doesn't sound good!

    Syringe wouldn't be nearly big enough. When I say suck, you really gotta suck. Up to 20 seconds a time.

    Sounds like they need to improve that design lol wow... Good luck on that one. Can you attach a long air hose to that nipple so you can get it started and not drink saltwater. Just a thought. worth a try
