Help I.D. this Hitchhiker

It's called advanced polyfiber media pad. It's white and I have a bulk size package that you cut to size and it is more of a polisher before the water passes through the pura pad. But I do see what you guys are saying. Should I try to avoid any sort of filter floss all together? I still need to get a chunk of chaeto for the filter/fuge which would be beneficial.

 

Realistically there is nothing wrong with using filter floss. The problem is that they are often overlooked or neglected and then turn foul. I think the reason people use the micron-nets rather than the filter floss, is that the nets are much easier to clean and provide the same pre-filter capability

 

ah kind of like a filter sock? yeah I'm making sure to keep up on a regular basis of washing these out and replacing them. I know that if I don't they will cause problems in my tank real quick

 

Yeah, but the filter floss can be pulled out and rinsed easier than other things in the tank to get rid of the stinky crap

 

I use that same filter floss and run it a few weeks until it is dirty and then replace it with new. I do not clean it just replace it.

 

Yeah I rinsed it out at first and then I just thought it would be better to replace it so I did. I got plenty of that stuff so it will take a while to use it all up.
