How long are you going to be gone?

How long will you be gone for? why not just run out and pick up a timer? Otherwise i'd guess you can leave them on... perhaps someone else with more experience will have better advice....

When I have algae problems I leave my lights off for sometimes 4 days. All my corals eventually open back up, takes them a little longer but never had a problem...

If your having an algae problem leaving them off for the two day could really be helpful

I would leave them off before I left them on. If you would have planned ahead you could have bought a timer for less than 20 bucks at a local hardware store:-/

I would leave the lights off. The fish will revert to resting state and be mellllllow during your absence. Less chance for the tank to overheat also. You also have to worry about evaporation. So, if you are running a sump, you will want to fill it a bit over your usual and customary top line. That's what I would do.

Maybe it would be best to just have the MH's turn on and off with the timer and leave the T5's and actinic's off for the next two days... seems safer than to leave light on above your tank for two days with no one to watch it. you dont have a friend or family who can come by and turn on the lights, feed fish?
