First off is it open top or do you have the glass cover on it?

First, calm down, take a deep breath, and don't panic ;) 7.8 is not a bad number really. Yes it's a little low, but not too bad, no where near panic or worry mode ;)
There are a few things that can affect PH. What time in the photoperiod did you test? If you tested when the lights have been of for a long time, you might not need to do anything, as lighting will increase the PH.
The second is oxygen. Like scenerio said, are you running a canopy? How is your surface agitation? Do you have an airstone? Does the room the tank is in have a good supply of fresh air?
If all those check out, you can dose a buffer. with 7.8 I would do a half-dose, wait 24 hours, then re-test at the same time tomorrow.

I woldn't worry about it. If all of your other parms are fine, then ph isn't a big deal. Just make sure your alk and ca are stable and the ph will take care of itself. A small sneeze can make the ph change in a room the size of the superdome.

I tend to agree with PackLeader.

Tell us a little bit more about your setup. What photoperiod are you using?

Kalk is a good way to rise the pH principally at night.
