    yea could be - or a little of both - if you are cycling still I would say diatoms - it will go away.

    I wouldn't at this point if you have just finished cycling it will go away in time;)

    the only thing about adding liquids is it works and then when you stop using it the algae comes back..you needa find out why you have trates and phates and solve that, once you get them close to undetecable, then i bet the algae will be gone..

    well if your still cycling your tank then its prolly def diatoms..why do you have fish in there if you are still cycling..

    Diatoms. Is all part of cycling. It will go away when all the available silica is gone. Just give it time.

    Ok this tank has been setup for 5 months. I just removed my old sand bed and replaced it with new carib sea aragonite sand. This caused an ammonia spike which is why i think the diatoms are here.

    as long as fish and inverts are fine, the ammonia will just take you through a typical, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate rise and fall. or the begginer cycle. it'll go away in time ;).
