How do you think I could get my nitrates down? They been reading less over the last couple of weeks due to the vodka dosing. I have my halides on for ten hours and the ref runs opposite of the DT the phos shouldn't be high due to the reactor, I still have a low ph problem.

With a fuge the nitrates will eventually come down to almost zero. Yoou just have to wait for it to mature. The p04 reactor will do the trick on the phosphates. Your tanks still maturing and the ph will come up slowly. Cal needs to be aroud 400 and mag needs to be around 1400 dkh will raise when cal and mag levels rise

i have a 5ft tropical tank with cichlids and it is growing stringy green/black hair on the plants, rocks and ornaments.
does anyone know why this might be happening?
ive been doing my normal water chages and the PH and nitrite levels are ok. is there something i should be testing for that could be causing this?
the algae doesn't seem to be affecting the fish, but the plants are not growing as fast and healthy as they would without the presence of this algae.

if anyone can help me out with some advice it would be greatly appreciated
