I've had my tank for a year this month. 210 gallons with 3-250 MH's + actinics. I've got 2- koralia #4's at each end, about 1/4 of the way down the glass. I've also got a filter box dead center at the back creating flow.

I've had a Galaxia, plate, carnation, open brain, and kenya tree. All have died. This was in the early stages of setting up my tank. I've resisted buying anymore corals for fear of killing them off.

Currently i've got some mushrooms, various zoos,Xenia, Sun coral and some Frogspawn(which has never grown since being added about 5 months ago). The zoos have been spreading, but the xenia have not taken off at all(which i'm actually happy about). The only worry i have regarding the xenia is i hear they spread like wildfire so i'm thinking that that might mean somethings wrong with my parameters. I mean if i can't get Xenia to grow what else do i have any chance with, right?

I used to be dependent on others to help me maintain my tank but have since been educating myself, mostly with the help of all of you(thanks;D), and am maintaining my water chemistry pretty well. My shrooms are standing up nice and my zoos have really taken off, recently.
I noticed this since adding my Kalkwasser, and keeping on top of my ph(around 8.3).

I'm now feeling confident to add some more corals but i don't want anything too advanced. I'd prefer not to get anything i need to direct feed.
I loved the Galaxia and the Kenya tree and would love to get them again.I love Elegance, but i think i heard they're pretty hard to keep. I loved my Carnation and want another. I had it on the bottom of the tank sorta in the semi shade, as i hear they like lower light.
I like Birds nest's also, as well as a Tridacnid clam.I think the clam would also be benificial to the water quality. I realize the clam should be on the bottom in the sandbed.

My question is; what types of corals would give me the most bang for my buck(color wise) and yet be easier to care for? I'd like to see if i can keep them alive before getting more advanced.

Sorry for asking so many questions but we're having a 40th B-day party at our home for my wife and i'd like the tank to look Nice:cheesy:. Thanks.

I'd also like to know where it is best to place each suggestion you may have due to the MH's.

Well, theres always more zoa's and shrooms ;) Glove is nice too, and grows quickly.
And just so you know, not all clams should be on the sandbed. A lot are rock boring clams. Research the particular clam first

I would suggest a bubble coral or some sort of favia/favites. They can be very colorful and hardy. Leather corals are very hardy. Montipora for sps, acans are all good. There are many more.

How about a hammer? Our is thriving. I am wondering what you feed. It seems like the lighting should be okay. Do you have a skimmer? Water changes? Additives? I like the carnations, but they always die on us. What about a kenya tree? They are easier (at least for us) I know you want the hard stuff, but why not try some things that offer color and see how they do first?

I'd hold off on any more corals until that frogspawn starts growing. Figure out what is holding it back first. My $0.02. Sorry.

Frogs grow slowly though! Mine has taken its time. Montipora grows well, fast and can be colorful!

I've got a really good E.T.S.S. skimmer,Phosband reactor, UV steralizer,Kalkwasser. My perameters are good. Things seem to be doing well now which is why i'm looking to add some more stuff.

Leathers can be rather large, which gives a nice focal point, not very colorful, but they're hardy and grow fast. Maybe a toadstool?
