HELP! Longnose Butterfly not doing so good

    Well i just bought a nice longnose butterfly fish for my tank today and he seemed to be doing fine a few hours after acclimation until now when i got home from work... He doesnt seem to be swimming to well and is upside down alot letting the current take him. I dont know what to do hes been in for only about 12 hours... ANY HELP??

    try posting your tank specs, there is a sticky on the top of the ASAP board that you can follow and fill in what you know.

    I am guessing you got it from the LFS, how long did they have it? any signs of illness?

    No there was no signs of illness... everything is perfect in the tank.. my other fish is doing fine... and the longnose is dead.. i just had to scoop him out =/

    how did you do the acclimetion? longnose, copperbanded are very delicate fish during acclimation. at least in my world. sorry about your butterfly

    that sucks! How long has the tank been set up for? What are the parameters? I would still try to figure out what caused it so it doesn't happen in the future.

    butterfly fish are very poor fish to get. Most likely it was not eating in the LFS and the stress of moving to a new tank was too much. Their diet is so specific that they just do poorly in captivity. I have tried to keep a couple copperbanded and even though they made it through acclimation, it died within a few months.
