Last night I did a 10% water change because it had been two weeks and i was told to do so, this morning my boyfriend went to turn on the light and our lion fish was dead our clowns do not looks good neither do our are yellow tail damsels. i checked everything everything is fine excluding the PH at 7.4. i checked the tank for death, my corals and anenomes are not looking to good ethier, the only one who has opened a little is the frogspawn, i put some bufer in there but it is taking for ever,
could this low PH be the cause of the poor looking fish who were happy and swimming last nightand the closed up limp corals who where perky and open last night?
    pleeeeeeeease help me

    Did you use salt water?

What is your salinity, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate level

Salt is at 1.022-23 and ammonia nitrite and nitrates are all showing 0, and Alk seems to be in the normal color range

what kind(brand) of test kit are you using?

I have a very hard time believing your nitrate is zero with a lionfish tank, especially after the lion just died.

Low ph is not good for the corals or the fish really, but I don't think it would have killed your lion.

Its a test kit for saltwater. The lion was a small baby, and he only ever ate brine shrimp. the nitrite tester liquid i have is a light blue and if it is 0 it stays the same color. it is only very slightly ( and i mean very sight) a hint of purple, it dosnt math up to anything on the card, im not really understanding myself which i why i am asking

It should come with a card that has instructions. Also the card should have a color chart on it for you compare the vial to after completing the instructions.

I guess it could have been a drastic drop but I have never had a problem with the PH in my tank, but I use RO/DI water. Do you use tap water to make the salt? Ph naturally drops at night to a extent.
