i made a terrible mistake by buying a powder brown on impulse. i did do research. the problem is the fish was just recently introduced to the lfs for an hour and i bought it. it looked very good though. i dripped him for nan hour, he was out and about in open sight but not eating. that was two days ago when i got him, now he is getting some sort of dark patches on his side and i dont know what to do. ive tried feeding and he did nibble but no real food consumption. do i just give it time or what

What are you trying to feed him?
Have you tried soaking the food in garlic?

Nori and Gracilaria are the best foods for a tang.

Unfortunately, it is hit or miss with your higher end tangs. I would keep trying, but it is not looking good. With any luck, he will start eating.

Does your LFS have a refund policy if it doesn't make it. Let them know that the fish never ate.

i just figured the normal, new fish doesnt eat right away, but what about the dark patches. they arent very dark just slightly darkes than the fish. how long should i give the fish before a concern for my other fish kick in. he still acts pretty normal out in the open.

The patches are just showing stress. Most tangs do this in times of stress. Hopefully it is just from shipping and multiple tanks in a short time.

well at least thats a ray of hope. i just thought since most of my other fish didnt eat for at least week, that this tang was just acting normal. i did catch it flashing briefly on the rocks. i figured the fact that it even nibbled several times was good compared to my other fish. what else can i do to try and get him to eat, i even tried live brine to give it a shot.
