start by reading about framing, walls etc.. learn what a king stud, a crippple, and a header mean as you will likely use those concepts around the doors etc.

wow! you are almost perfectly set up for this installation. im no pro but i had a double view 80 inch tank installed and i have some ideas for you.
whats the width of your tank. build that post out towards the living room about 3 inches wider than your tank will be. envision the height of your tank from your kitchen. if you envision the height from your sunken living room then your tank will be too low from kitchen. better to be higher then lower. extend your kitchen floor out to 3 inches wider then tank as well into your living room and drywall the facing. you can service your tank underneath from the kitchen side prob better cuz your floor is ceramic or vinyl. for support, make sure you go 4 by 4's (double 2 by 4's work) spaced maybe 18-20 inches apart but equal across, that way you do cabintry on the kitchen side. id also have a drain installed under there incase of a leak, especially if there is a basement. the 3 iches i talk about allows for a 1 and 1/2 inch recess on either side which looks nice. ill try to post a pic of my tank so you get some more ideas. take this slow and do it right. its in a focal point of your house and you dont want to cut corners or do a shoddy job.

not a dilemna(read living room floor). like i said, extend the floor out into the living room. extend the post out to match. your done! id also thicken your post 4 inches or so. when your looking from your sunken room into your kitchen, bring the post wider to the left about 4 iches. this just give it more bulk, you know...you have a big tank, you dont want a skimpy post, wont look right. centre your tank betwee post and wall. this will leave a small gap on either side but dont worry as your cabinetry will hide this gap, trust me. if i sound excited i am, your perfectly set up for an awesome project.

Well Otty your last comment was unfortunately too right... She told me what to do, and that was NOT to get the 7' tank # : (
Simply put, the WAF was not there.
So now instead of the area where I took the railing out, it will be on the other side of the column, so now I need options for a 60" tank. I see there is the 120 long or 150 deep or 240 deep maybe? I also see a 120 that is 48", but not sure about that, then it wont be a good fit. I had a 75 in the past and never wanted to get any of the larger tangs or even have more than one - with a 48" could I get a naso tang even if its a 120 but 48"? I guess I feel like it needs to be "longer" not "taller" to support larger tangs that need more space, but maybe im wrong?
What are some other options in the ~60" range?

Ok, so need some advice on what tank might be best in the "other" side of the post... Here is the space with a cardboard cutout - this "tank" is 48x30x24tall which would be a standard 150gallon tank. The distance between the post and wall is 61"

Wait..where's this tank going in the room, in correlation to the other one we've been talking about? Isn't this at the end of where the main tank will be? So you want to make a wall of tanks? lol.

Just the other side of the column/post. The side that has the cardboard box...Initially it was the other side where I took the railing out and you can see the white circle where the railing was...
