I just purchased 2 48" used aqualight pro 250w HQI metal halide with 96w power compacts for actinics. I really like the water to look more on the blue side. Thanks for the help. Links to websites would be great.

Are the HQI kind of yellowish? and is you power compacts 460nm, 420nm or 03 true Actinics?

One of if not THE bluest HQI bulb I have seen is the good old Coralife 20,000k bulb. It is BLUE and looks nice on the Coralife ballasts.

Remember all lamps will burn different on different ballasts. Electronic and magnetic ballasts will affect color as well.

    Good luck!

The HQI that is in there now look to be a slight blue but very bright white. Keep in mind I dont have them over a tank yet so it is hard to tell. The actinics say coralife 96W actinics?

Coralife has a lamp that they call actinic, it is more blue though than actinic. Actinic is more purple, or violet is more like it.

There really isn't any TRUE actinic PC bulbs.

Guitarman89 posted this picture. I really like this color. I know this was done with T5 but I am sure I can get this with Halides and PC actinics.
