I found two piecees of LR both about 1 foot wide 8-10 inches tall and 4-6 front to back at 6.99 per. lbs. heres the problem can only buy one and one piece is 18 lbs one is 10.5 which is better for tank and why?

There is no real right or wrong one there and one isnt better then the other. I would go with the one that you think will be easyier to work with.

Agreed.. neither will be "better" so to speak as far as filtration.
Price per pound is price per pound.. so if you buy the 10lb rock and another 8lb rock if it fits better for you.. cool.. if you buy the 18lb b/c you have an idea for it.. cool... either way.. same amount of rock filtration. The smaller rocks IMO would be more likely to not collect detritus as bad as the large depending on the shape, flow, blah blah etc.
