Please ignore any and everything that says to use a "hardy" fish to cycle your tank. The best way I have seen is the live rock and a raw shrimp. When I cycled mine, I had 50lbs of DRY rock in mine and 30lbs of sand. I added the raw shrimp and 2wks later my tank had fully cycled. I didn't have to put fish that I didn't want in my tank.It required nothing live to do it and was quite quick in my opinion.

Thanks for all the input. I'll stick to cycling with live rock and table shrimp. no sense in wasting life! :)

I used a dead shrimp and it worked like a charm. Once everything were at safe levels I added my 3 stripped damsels. Took about a month or so cycle. I still have my 3 damsels and I happen to really like them.

Good luck! here's to wishing you a quick cycle. I just went through mine recently, took about 3 weeks with the raw shrimp. I was happy I did it instead of using a fish

if you would like to speed the process you could also add a bio booster like biospira or something along those lines....the bottle has live bacteria in it and will speed the build of bacterial colonies

Ok start by maybe getting more rocks live or dead just atleast get 1lb per 1 gallon also use live sand for best results. Then do a water test everyday then when ur levels read right add fish.
