I am planing a new 75 gallon tank to get in a few weeks. I am currently debating between what MH light fixture to get. Right now it is between sunpod 2-150s or 2-250s because they seem to be the best price...

Can anyone gimme some input on these two? Or give me other suggestions. It must rest on the tank.

    thanks

i think that 2-150 would be better because i think that the 250 will probly heat up your tank up higher then you would want.

I agree, unless you want to invest in a chiller, the 250s will most likely heat your tank up, especially in the summer.

If I were to get the 2-150 sunpod setup would I be able to keep just about any type of coral? and would that alone be good in a 75gal or should I look for a setup that has t5s attached?

    Thanks for the feedback

2 of the 150's with T5's and you would be set.

That's what I was thinking, if you're planning on keeping those very light intense corals and want to keep them towards the bottom as well you'd better go with the 250s, but you can always keep the light intense ones in the top half of the tank with the 150s.

So that would rule out sunpods...

Anybody have some suggestions to what fixtures I should look into that are 48'' 2-150s w/ t5 that are a good deal. Ive done some research but I like hearing what poeple suggest.

I would go for the 2X 250W. I had them on my old 75G and only needed to add a single fan pointed at the water in my sump to keep the temp OK.

The Cheapest way to get the lighting you want is to DIY it. Buy all the parts separate and then build a canopy to hold it all. You will get much better quality equipment for less money

I have a sunpod 2 150 bulbs on my 46 and I only have a little fan in the back. The fixture makes very little heat. In a 75 I would definetely get the 2 250 bulbs. You will still only need a fan without a chiller. 150 bulbs will work but the 250's would be better
