help me decide: T5 Icecap 4x54 or Tek 6x54..

    For a 75 gallon tank. 21"H Either want to go with an IceCap Retro 4x 54 (85) or Tek 6x54. I want to have as many options available for growing corals as possible.

    I would go TEK with the UVL bulbs. That'll do ya nice. The 6x54W will definitely give you enough light, but you could also do the 8x54W and go for a little more. I was originally going to do that with my 75g before it started leaking. Now I have a 90g and am still working towards the same unit.

    with my canopy build fan my lights will have to be about 5" above water. with regular t5s will I be able to grow acro, etc. sps and at what depths?

    with either setup you could grow sps. I would keep them higher up, mainly because they can take as much light as you give them. T5s have a maximum usable depth of about 18-20" so any place half way up or higher should be fine.
