I do plan on upgrading my tank but for now I prefer to be safe with my fish selection so no tangs even though I really want one.

A pistol shrimp does a good job of protecting a goby from even a larger wrasse. My friend has a 75 gallon with a mystery wrasse and it still hasnt been able to munch on the goby and they have been in the tank for 2+ years.

i would definitely skip out on the seahorse idea...too many variables in conflict with what livestock you want to keep in the tank.

I would go with a Wrasse. There are a ton of great reef and invert safe ones out there. They are great swimmers and tend to bring other fish out. Meaning a shyer fish will be out in the open more do to the wrasse being out. I think they figure is the Wrasse is swimming around it must be safe.
