This algae has taken over my whole tank-it is everywhere. The algae is a dark green and looks like very short grass. How do I get rid of it? I am trying Poly-ox right now but not sure it will help this type.

also forgot to add turbos are lawn mowers they will not knock stuff over and they only eat the GHA when it is less than a 1/4 inch

Do yourself a favor and buy a phosphate reactor and use Pura Phoslock. Get Margarita snails and if you don't have Coral that can be knocked over get the Turbo as well.

Tank is 150 gallon, lighting is three metal halides 250w phoenix bulbs, and four 96 watt actinic. I have a phosphate reactor with rowaphos in it. Also have ro/di so I guess will have to see if ro/di is actually working. I have the actinic on for 10 hrs and halides on for 8. Should I change that? I have some turbos and blue leg hermits that are eating it but just not enough.

I have had the same problem in my 55, I have over 80 different snails, phosban, ro/di unit and nothing has worked, my cheato is thriving in my refuge but this algae grows all over its like a moss, not green hair. nothing metioned has worked for me at all even taking out the rocks and scrubbing them. its a very invasive algea whatever it is. it is also very hard to pull of the rocks.does this sound like the same stuff?

I'm trying to battle the same issue, found out that my ro/di unit had a bad membrane. so i'm doing water changes twice a week, I added two phosphate reactors from two little fishes one runs phosban and the other carbon. phosphate is now down to 0 from 1. everything else was incheck just too many tds's in the water must have caused it. i do have turbo's and margarita snails along with blue legs. Process i'm told takes awhile.

rhorton-It sounds the same and it is all over my tank but not on the sand. It makes everything look ugly. I am getting a tester to check my ro/di. I have 150 lbs of live rock that is covered with it. I don't understand why the reactor isn't keeping it in check. I don't know, but hope to find out soon how to get rid of it and if I do I will let you know. It seems like it happened quickly.
