The problem isn't the amount of light put out of the orphek but the footprint it covers, probably around 2 square feet if its like a halide.

I am starting to be swayed to think otherwise. I have done a lot of research over the paste few days and i am not liking what I am finding. It's truly a shame! :-[

I've been testing the BoostLED PAR30 bulbs and I'm happy with the results so far. That said, I don't believe LEDs are there fully yet, I'm not able to reproduce my preference of color that I'm able to achieve with T5s. I'm in the process of building a LED/T5 combo setup for my main tank. I don't have any experience with the other company, but one think I can say, you wouldn't be disappointed with BoostLED's customer service. Oh, and you will need 2 fixtures no matter what, one wouldn't span your entire tank.

They all look the same because they all use the same emitters: Cree emitters that emit about 50% of their output in spectrums useless to coral, and lack a complete spectral profile and high CRI. That is why we designed our own diodes! :)

Correction, certain Cree emitters! Not all, and it also becomes a non issue in the end!

I'd love to see these spectrographs you speak of :)

I'm sure you would but lighting is about the combination of light not each individual led. I will ask you again as others have, what is the spectrum of PUR for coral. I don't want the peaks. I want the entire spectrum that you call PUR.
