    Hello everyone:

Well I got another tank, Its 60 gallon acrylic (see pic in album) and I am going to start another reef for the livingroom. I see everyone elses thread and have read through most I think. I still have some questions
1: Should I buy 3 inches Carib seasand and put 1 inch livesand on top of it. And if so do I fill my tank with saltwater, install the sand carib first then live sand and on top of that place say 25 ppounds live rock fugi premium and call it good while the tank is cycling?
    This is my plan A

2: Please tell me what you would do to start a new tank with sand ,Live or not,....

3: How many inches sand ....I hear everything from 2 to 6.

The biggest worry I have is I will not do somthing right and ruin the whole thing.

    Thanks everyone

To save you all some time and typing. I have read more and have awnsered most questions. I am going to bur the carib sand and start cycling my tank with the sand and live rock from my other cured aquarium...so as not to have all the bad rotting die off go into my nice new sand bed. Using LR ordered from the net would cause too much wast while it cures......right? Then later I can buy live sand of that garf stuff to seed the sand.
Does anyone have a sand calculater to see how many pounds I need to get. 60 gal rectangle acrylic tank.

    Thanks
    Jay

Sounds good to me. 4" is perfect

Put the sand in in that order and then add the water.  Use some plastic over the sand and you won't have sand flurries.  Remove the plastic when complete.

Cure your rock in a separate container with a heater, and powerhead.  Use some raw shrimp in an old nylon to cycle your tank.  Add the LR when cured.  This will eliminate the die off from the LR accumulating in your sand bed. ;D
