Hey all, I'm looking for some good DIYselfers help to mount my outflow tube from my ATO over my overflow box. I currently have it mounted on my MH pendant cord as my trim is too large for the mount included with the Tunze 3155 ATO.

I now have a top that rests on the inside of the tank lip so I will have to figure a way to mount it on the backside of the tank over the overflow. The mount that comes with the kit has a attachment that can be fitted through the right sized hole with a nut fastener to secure it. Basically it is a tube holder that is clasped together with the screw.

Here is a pic of how I currently have it & below that is the rough design of what I need to do but have no idea what would work securely so I could sleep at night. I toyed with adhesive mounting tabs and zip ties but I worry too much about the tabs coming loose over time and re-directing the tubing to the floor.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas, thanks!

I made a wall out of egg crate to stop jumpers without sacrificing diffusing my light. It also works great for my dosing tubes, ATO tube, hanging bags to acclimate, etc.

Can I ask why you want to run it there instead of running it into the sump? I have mine ziptied to another hose just inside the sump as to make sure it never touches the sump water. Made the mistake once that it actually submerged and it topped off then siphoned back and topped off for a few hours before I noticed...that was bad.

That is a good point - I only keep 4 gallons in my ATO reservoir. Worse case scenario is 4 gallons. That won't really mes my numbers too much.

Appreciate the input guys. Tunze recommends the tubing run higher than my reservoir water level so no siphon can be created. I feel more secure feeding the top off up to the overflow.

I have a 25 gallon storage container that is pretty much the same height ad my sump but the tube doesn't drop into the sump so there isn't a chance for a siphon.

I normally have 5-10 gallons in my reservoir and it was slowly diluting the tank water as it slowly mixed back and forth. In turn my reservoir slowly got salty lol.

anyone else have any ideas? If I top off to the sump what if I ran the tubing very high in the middle?

The height in the middle doesn't matter its where the outlet of the tube is. It can't be below the water level of the top off container I believe.
