Help me out with ID on how to fix this

No comments this is the light for my sons fish tank it wont turn on I know the buld is good because the light flickers in this picture is a light bulb looking thing that clicks every time the light flicks what i need to know is how to fix it or what it is the ballest is on the power pack and does not have one of the drum looking plugins.

It's probably the ballast. You can get a new hood w/ballast from lowes for like $8. I was just going to get a ballast itself but they were $16, you can get the whole thing for way less like I did and tear it apart just for the ballast which is what I did if you want to keep your existing setup and just replace ballast.

 

does it have an igniter? some cheap lights have some. they are with and about the size of an m80. if so try replacing that first.

i meant to say they are white.

 

no i think thats what that little light bulb looking thing is thats what im trying to figure out

 

that is the igniter, would be a lot safer to get one with the plastic cover, they are fairly inexpensive

 

I wonder how old that light is I neaver seen 1 like that
