Sorry for the crappy photo. This is on my torch coral and always thought they were dead barnacles or something but they seem to be growing, looks like some filter feeder. Any ideas?

I'm going with some type of colonial tunicates, though its hard to see in the picture.

I have the exact same thing growing on my torch in the exact same location. Only difference is mine is white around the edges, and it appears similar to the flesh of a torch head. I thought it was a failed head trying to pop out.

Keep an eye on your heads. The branch of the torch that has more of this on it is starting to recede. HOWEVER, this branch was the "weaker" of the two from the time I put it in the tank and it never quite extended like the other. So, I can't say for sure that this is the cause for it receding.

Here's a pic of the "growth" and of the torch. Sorry for the pic quality. Only the blues are on now and I just grabbed the iPhone for a quick pic.

Hmm I have seen in the past of worms living in the skeleton of a hammer. It was right under the head about a half inch. And the coral just would do good do bad, good bad. But someone suggested cutting it off.

When was cut, a inch long skinny worm came out. And had a tunnel right down the middle of the skeleton they cut off above it and glued the remaining skeleton to a plug and it recovered rather quickly.

But this also looked nothing like this. It had a tunnel like a feather duster. It was dipped on several pest dips with no luck. So not saying its a parasite or worm but just a thought if that part of the coral is having issues
