if you can afford it the bmer 745 is pure luxe, but its a classy ride, if you are looking for a more sporty ride m3 is good

Where are you at? Do you need 4 wheel drive? I would also consider the need Audi. Darn sick, similar price range to the BMW and all wheel drive

Get a BMW 5 series. 535 would be a good choice

I worked for BMW dealership(parts) for 8 years. Your better choice is the 5 series. The 7 is a pos. When they break(and it will a lot) its mostly electronics failing, which is not cheap. Some of those control units are 3000$ and you can't find them aftermarket. Save yourself the headache.
The e39(5 series) you have now is a good car.

I've got a GMC Acadia which the wife loves, AWD seating for up to seven, and pretty good gas mileage.(20mph). The rear seats fold down and I have put in a full 4'x8' piece of plywood. The ride is great both on highway, and "off road".

+1 on the Acura. They are great cars! My wife has a 08 CR-V(the MDX's little cousin) and she loves it! I had a 94 legend that was bulletproof. Can't go wrong with honda IMHO.
