Help ME please

ok i have a 14 gal. tank and it has been set up for 3 months. i had a total of 9 fish but over the first three days 5 of them died. i bought a water test kit and found out that my nitrate levers are very high. i have changed my water on a daily basis for 1 week and there has been no change in the nitrate levels. How do i lower my nitrate levels.

 

either it hasnt cycled yet or you may have to many fish, how much LR in it?? what r u running?? good luck

 

Remove some of the fish! Too many in that size tank in my opinion!
Nitrates are too high due to insufficient filtration as well as excess nutrients in your water caused by feeding as well as dissolved organics and inorganics and phosphates.
How are your pH and alkalinity levels?
I also think that you added way too many fish over such a short period of time, hence the bacteria level is not up to speed and population to handle the large bioload in my opinion!
Personally, I would return a few fish to your pet shop atleast initially for your tanks water parameter levels to level out at the optimal zone!

 

my ph levels are at 7.2

 

i have 2 live plants in my tank one ofe them just contains many diffrent plants in one pot. i have put nitrate reducer in the water and it hav no effect. i tested for ammonia and that is at 0.

 

WOW, 9 fish in a 14 gal tank. I have 12 in a 90gal and Im at the border line. I agree with CR, either get rid of some fish or get a bigger tank. You could also ask your LFS to hold on to the fish as you fix your problem or a bigger tank.

 

Nitrates lowers ph, so your high levels of no3 is killing your ph and fish.

 

now that i only have 4 fish and 3 are small zebra fish and 1 is an alge eater is that still to many?

 

if this is an ok amount of fish what is the best thing i could do to keep the water safe.

 

The "general" rule ofthumb is 1" of fish per 2-3 gals of water
