Help me spend my money!

Well I went and deposited the check..came home and ordered it. Got an email saying my card was declined (I was running a little low before I deposited the check). Usually it just goes ahead and takes it out even if there are insufficient funds. Not this time. So I called and they are going to run it again in the morning after the check goes through (hopefully!). I had them upgrade my shipping so I can tinker around with this weekend lol So I should have it by Friday.

 

Well hopefully I will end up being able to connect it to my computer. I have a macbook..so no serial port. I went and got a usb-serial adapter. The driver CD is one of those stupid "mini cd's" and won't go into my cd drive. It also says I have to have windows. Luckily I have my hard drive split and have windows installed on the other side. So I called their support and the guy is emailing me the driver. Hopefully it works out.

 

Can't remember if the Jr. will connect via internet but the ACIII and Pro will. That way you can change anything from any internet terminal.

 

nope..only the elite has the ethernet port. I wish the jr did!

Edit: not elite...whatever the higher up aquacontroller is lol I've been getting the RKL and ACJ mixed up..

I work with microcontrollers so I am working on hooking a MicroLogix to my tank with a 17" touch panel controlling it. You can hook probes up anything, and put it on the net. Downside, VERY EXPENSIVE ( I just happen to have acquired some parts through my job).

 

I may be wrong, but I think the serial cable only allows you to view the program and parameters on the computer. I don't think you can change any settings or program from the computer. Limited use in my opinion.


We have two ACjrs and two RKLs. I have had much better luck with RKLs. It may be something in my settings but the jrs have a mind of their own.

It is not uncommon for the lights to turn on in the middle of the night and then turn off again on one controller. The other, which is programmed exactly the same does not do this.

The other jr will not turn the pumps on after a feeding cycle. I have to unplug the controller and plug in back in to get the pumps going again.

Both have had temp probe failures.

I just did some reading..with the serial cable you can download/log data and *through aqua notes* can control the controller. What I read said that you can do this even through the free version of aqua notes

 

I never had aqua notes so that is probably true.
