Help me to ID this SPS coral!

Cool sps coral I picked up today, I believe it to be an Acropora Batunai. any other guesses or confirmations? It is small and has a green body with purple tips.

 

Well I suppose it is impossible to get a good ID with the small size and somewhat unusual coloring.. Sometimes acropora corals can change colors? Well, I will post an update after I get the exact species from the LFS in Lansing.

 

We've always just called them "German Acro". Not sure if that helps or not.

 

Well, I didn't think it even had a common name, thats great! Now I won't have to speak latin when referring to my coral He is a trooper, I think! Since I've added him, my anemone detached and I am monitoring the coral battle/war closely. Silly me for listening to the LFS who told me "there'd be no problem between SPS and LTA"

edit: it could be the LFS water that the coral came in, so they may be right after all.... i hope *gulp*

id knock that bubble algae of oyur frag befor it spreads....I have a deep hatread for that stuff

 

Thanks for the replies! You have helped me to make an important decision, (since my LFS if very kind) I traded the 'german' acropora in for an orange montipora digitata. I should have greater chances of success with this, I will update the pics sometime in the near future. And explain WHY I had to swap the corals out....:-[

 

Here is the new coral which even though falls under the SPS category, is less temperamental than the last one. I had to switch the acropora for the less demanding montipora because my darn tank leaked out! Now I have a new tank setup with more room, so all is not bad, and the orange montipora is actually very relaxing to look at. It is like the best of both worlds, hard skeleton but with soft polyp tentacles that usually stay open.

The tips have turned a pinkish-white color, is this normal?
I hope it is just acclimating to my light and is not tooo stressed. Oh, and thanks for everyones input!

 

Sorry to hear about the leak! That stinks!

What color were the tips before? Montipora digitata are fast growers so the white/pink tips are probably just growth.
