    As far as I know, the kind of salt you buy will depend on your levels. I buy red sea pro and I dont do a lot of water changes so I dose semi reg. I'm not persistant with anything. But I guess that they (mg, alk, ca.) are all related closely. I am a newb at this chem soup and am trying to learn it also. It feels like I am back in school with a bunch of crap that I just dont quit get. Read, read, read. LOL

    I always had low nitrates, and with the addition of a fuge, I want to do lees WCs than I did. I dose trace and ca and alk, so I don't think I need to do 15% WCs weekly like I was. Phos has always been zero too. I'm learning like you. I usually get pointed in a direction then search the web for a coupel of days.:p

    15% weekly, wow. It's easier to do wc than it is to do dosing and its more accurate.
