a 10-20 gallon sump would be ideal, it depends on the size of the stand

It is a normal 75 gal stand.

off the top of my head i cant think of the dimensions but a 20 gallon would be good, the point to a sump is to make the actual volume of water larger and therefore more stable without a large tank. so the largest sump possible is a must.

I'm still a newbie myself lol. But everything I read said around 25% volume of the DT. Just make sure it will hold any water from the DT if there is a loss of power and drill a small hole in the return line for anti feed back. I plumbed a
16g "OPERATIONAL"/ 30g total volume sump with a 40g fuge through the wall of the living room where it all sits in a closet, over kill but more room for error :). Also something to consider when building it is room for a skimmer unless you have or are going to run a hob style.

I would suggest running a skimmer for sure.

I would use a 37 gallon from aqueon, the reason- its half the size of your present tank, and will fit under your present stand. Most sump set up's are usually only half full of water, so this would net you about 20 gallons of "sump" water, plus it's a good size, plenty of room for equipment.
