    well heres my little trick that has worked on tons of fish in multiple tanks.
    using a fishtrap with the string, i attach a weight to the top of the door so it closes much faster.

    next i train the fish(all my fish) to eat from the tip of a turkey baster
    then all you gotta do is squirt some food from there and whamo you caught yourself a fish

    i had the same problem and none of the suggested reccomendations worked. So since i only had 2 other fish in there I simply denied him food at feeding time (while the net was in there so they got used to it) and eventually he got so hungry that he ignored the net and i got him.
