HELP! microbubbles in the tank

    How do I reduce microbubbles in the tank? I have a lot of them - any advice greatly appreciated!

    Powerhead or return pump sucking air most likely. Another option is your skimmer putting them into the column.

    I think it's coming from the skimmer into the return.

    Does your skimmer have anything around the output to slow the water and keep it from splashing. A piece of foam will slow the water and keep it from driving the bubbles into the water.

    What skimmer are you using? How are the baffles in your sump arranged,can you post a pic?

    If your filter is in a sump, the easiest fix is to put a filter sock over the skimmer return. fast fix and it will cut down on micro bubbles a ton

    Did you clean the skimmer? If so, not uncommon for it to produce tons of bubbles for a day or two.

    If it's coming from the skimmer into the RP?

    There should be some type of baffling system to keep them out of the RP.
    I thought you had a store bought sump? Should have baffles for this.

    The other advice will work also- just clean foam or a sock often.
