I'll get a picture. Our friend made the sump and the skimmer.....I think the bubbles are coming from the skimmer dumping into the last section where the return pump is. The skimmer is also brand new so I am thinking that could be part of the issue also.

I can't get the camera to work :(

ok, I put a piece of foam on the return from the skimmer and it seems to have cut down a little bit on the microbubbles. I'll need to get a filter sock....thank you for all the helpful responses!

Having the skimmer return in a different section from the tank return will help a lot as well.

I don't think I can switch things up at this point. I have what I have - the skimmer is built in to the sump.

I believe a sponge on the return pump intake would work better and not create the potential for affecting skimmer performance.

thanks Mr. Bill! I will try that, the sponge I put on the skimmer output keeps floating away. I'll try the return pump.

Floating away? Well, Nail it Down! Clamp it, Zip tie, wedge, etc.!

I too noticed the skimmer right by your RP on another of your posts, and now realize you can't change that. Someone was paid that designed that?
    J/K.

Don't forget to clean that foam often. If it were me, I'd just use tap water from a spraw type head- like on my kitchen sink! IMO- you're not trying to keep denitrifying bacteria alive here on that sponge, for very long anyways. It's only a bubble diffuser, which will now be a mechanical filter also.

so, do you recommend on the return pump or near the skimmer output?
