OK, I heeded the advice of you wise 3reef'ers and purchased a Tunze 9002 Nano Skimmer from a local fish store (remarkably same price as online).

I pulled out the old skimmer and just about threw up! It was so disgusting! I haven't used brine shrimp in about a year and there were hundreds of partially decomposed ones back in there... I now know why my nitrates were so high.

In any case, I need help figuring out how to best mount this skimmer the tank. The old skimmer was custom made to fit the tank... the new one is about 8-inches shorter and sits way too low. The magnet is on the side and there is nothing to attach it to.

    Help Please!

    Figured it out!

I figured it out... I took the old skimmer (the one that comes with the RSM). Removed the pump. Then I took a jigsaw to it. I cut away most of the angular part leaving behind just the tower with the groves (that slide right into the mounts in the back of the tank. However, when I put it back in, I reverse the direction so the long plastic wall (where the pump used to be connected) is facing the heater. That's it... the Tunze 9002 magnet will mount right onto that wall.

    works great!!

On my RSM I purchased a StevieT media rack and the Tunze 9002 mount right to it. Thats the best way to do it. Rack was around 40 bucks and well worth it.
