Help my pepermint shrimp has been infested!

Are you sure the shrimp diddnt just kick the bucket from something else and this bristleworm type creature foung a feat on the carrion so to speak? Sounds like you are describing a bristleworm. I am asuming that you know what a bristleworm looks like and that it eats waste in your system.

Just a thought at 3:15 this morning so forgive me if I am wrong here

 

yeah i am sure its not a bristleworm, brushed past a few of them in my time! it was more like a tapeworm though! the shrimp literaly keeled over in front of me and by the time i got my hand to him, he kicked his last dance! (RIP...my aptasia destroyer!)
but such is life! just hope it does not happen again! but in the meantime i a searching for a local vet that deals with marines, in case i need another post mortem (god forbid).

 

What about taking it to a good LFS (or a local reefer) to see if somebody can ID it? It would be worth keeping your eyes peeled on the rest of your shrimps to see if there is something similar.

unfortunately i do not have any good lfs within 3 hours drive! they are located in scotland and around london....but i am keeping a beadey little eye on the rest of the shrimps!

i am going to put some food in a trap this week to see if it is something that lives in the sand....but thankfully everything else in the tank looks as happy as larry at the moment
