I would try a massive water change get the cloudy water out then see if you problem is something else , but that's not totally a wise idea just the type of drastic thing I would do

And I'm honestly thinking back on the first tank I ever set I had a similar problem . And it all stemmed from not rinsing my sand of well befor I added it to the tank . But that's unrelated as you said you started with wetsand which I'm assuming means it was live .

Yeah, the sand was wet. As for the water change, it appears to make it worse.

I'm using the recommended amount of the zeovit carbon. It's about 1/3 of a bag. The current batch is about a week old.

Are you adding any sort of additives like purple up ? Ph buffer ? Anything at all ?

I get confused when people mention zeovit. Does this mean you are using that system to lower nutrients? Maybe combining the pellets and zeovit systems caused the bloom (residuals from the pellets)? I would just continue to run carbon and possibly change it out after 10 days or so. Just a thought.

I also lean towards a bacterial bloom. Has your tank increased in temperature in recent weeks? If it has gone up a couple of degrees, it is possible the bacterial bloom would last longer.

I guess you could also try a UV sterilizer, although that may kill off a lot of bacteria at once.

I'm also leaning heavy to carbon being the answer to your problem . I mean in the past anytime I've had clouding issues , I'll go and change out my current carbon or at least clean it out very well , which is also just as effective and will keep you from wasting lots of carbon unnessesarily

Unfortunately, the tank has been cloudy for 6 weeks through periods of fresh carbon, old carbon, and no carbon.
