Help, My Tank's Been Cloudy Forever

I have the UV, but I will not be hookig it up yet. 4 days after running the vertex for a day, my tank is crystal clear (without having to use the filter or anything else since the first day). I think I brought whatever it was under critical mass and, with luck, it's staying there on its own.

I was waiting to get better insight on how to run the uv with Zeovit. I now have that. It is discouraged, but can be done as log as the uv is not on for at least 2 hours after dosing. Turns out I may not need it, but that's useful information if I do.

 

Great news Servillius. Can you tell me a little bit about the vertex. I've never heard of it.

 

I believe it's a diatom filter. I have a Vertex XL, which worked "ok" but the cloudy always came back. My tank has been crystal clear since installing the UV.

 

It is a diatom filter. They're super old technology, but back in the very very distant past when we did maintainance accounts, we always had one. Its a portable hang on unit that you can attach to a tank and, if set up correctly, can strip all sorts of little stuff in a short time.

They're not perfect for any one application, but they're really handy as an assist for many problems.
